Rotary Club of Lake Oswego

Lakeridge and Lake Oswego High School

The Rotary Club of Lake Oswego has been awarding college scholarships to deserving students for generations. The Rotary Merit Scholarship and the Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship are offered each year at Lakeridge and Lake Oswego High School, with the recipients announced at the annual Senior Honors Assembly at each school.

The Merit Scholarship takes into account standardized test scores, grade point, honors, activities, and other measures of leadership. The Service Above Self Scholarship is named for the Rotary motto, with its emphasis on service to the community.

Service Above Self Scholarships are funded by the Rotary Club's SASEE Awards, an annual event designed to celebrate students, educators, staff, and community citizens who exhibit Service Above Self: Educational Excellence. These awards are community-based. Any high school senior who lives in Lake Oswego, regardless of what high school they attend, is welcome to apply.

Rotary's newest scholarship honors the late Bob Bigelow, a community leader who served as Rotary President in 1990. The Bigelow Memorial Scholarship takes into consideration the candidate student's need and circumstances. Judges for the Bigelow Scholarship are interested in challenges that candidates have faced, and how they've addressed those challenges.
